Salvation

Why, What, and How

Why Do You Need to Be Saved?

The Bible teaches that every person has been created by God, but we are separated from Him because of sin. Sin isn’t just the bad things we do; it’s a condition that affects our hearts and lives, distancing us from God and leading to spiritual death.

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” – Romans 3:23

“The wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” – Romans 6:23

God’s love for you is so great that He doesn’t want you to remain separated from Him. That’s why He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to pay the penalty for your sin and offer you the gift of eternal life.

What Is Salvation?

Salvation is God’s rescue plan for humanity. Through Jesus’ death on the cross and resurrection, He defeated sin and death, making it possible for us to be forgiven and restored to a right relationship with God. Salvation is not something you can earn—it is a gift from God.

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.” – Ephesians 2:8-9

When you accept this gift by faith, God forgives your sins, gives you a new heart, and makes you His child. This is what it means to be “saved.”

How Can You Be Saved?

The Bible outlines a simple way to accept God’s gift of salvation. We often call it the ABCs of salvation:

Admit you are a sinner and need God’s forgiveness.

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” – 1 John 1:9

Believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God who died for your sins and rose again.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” – John 3:16

Confess Jesus as Lord of your life and commit to following Him.

“If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” – Romans 10:9

You can pray a simple prayer like this to express your faith:

“Lord Jesus, I admit that I am a sinner in need of Your forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins and rose again to give me new life. Today, I confess You as my Lord and Savior. Come into my life and guide me as I follow You. Thank You for saving me. Amen.”
