There are moments when God invites us to take a deep breath, put down our roots, and grow together in ways that will shape generations. Advance Commitment Night is one of those moments.
As part of our Rooted journey-a two-year journey of spiritual formation-we’ll gather to worship, pray, and take a bold step of faith together. This special evening is a chance for those who call SOJO home to make their advance financial commitments toward the Rooted initiative before Commitment Sunday.

For years, God has been growing SOJO Church into a flourishing, multi-generational family of faith — rooted in Christ, reaching out in love, and bearing fruit that lasts.
Now, He’s inviting us to take our next step together — to deepen our roots, expand our reach, and multiply our impact for generations to come.
Rooted is more than a campaign. It’s a two-year journey of faith and formation — a chance to build a stronger church family in us, grow our influence through us, and expand the Kingdom beyond us.
This is about people. This is about purpose.

Be the Tree
This part of the Rooted vision is about becoming spiritually grounded at every stage of life — from the youngest child to the most seasoned saint.
Psalm 1 paints a picture of a tree planted by streams of water, bearing fruit in every season. That’s our desire: to become a generational orchard of faith where each person is deeply rooted and spiritually nourished.
Ministry Impact
- Support systems for new parents through baby dedications, parenting classes, and milestone moments
- High-impact kids ministry environments and midweek discipleship
- Weekly youth gatherings that shape identity, belonging, and purpose
- Launch of SOJO University for young adults
- Marriage enrichment, mentoring, and care for every life stage — from young marrieds to seniors
- Counseling and care ministries that strengthen families from the inside out
Project Cost: $1.2 Million (total over 2 years)
Every dollar here invests in discipleship, care, and Christ-centered community — growing a family of families into a flourishing, generationally rich church.
THROUGH US
Be the Orchard
We’ve outgrown our current space — and God has opened the door for an expanded home in Gibson Mill, right in the heart of our city.
This next step isn’t about square footage. It’s about planting a life-giving space where more people can encounter Jesus and join His story.
Ministry Impact
- Move to Gibson Mill, a high-traffic, spiritually strategic location
- Renovate 5,000 sq ft for a new SOJO Kids environment (“The Garden”)
- Relocate Sunday gatherings to The City Club — 400 worship seats + 14 restrooms
- Create hospitality areas, clear signage, and covered drop-off zones
- Establish a Legacy Project Fund to prepare for a future permanent home
Project Cost: $1 Million
→ $500k for Gibson Mill renovation and equipment
→ $500k for Legacy Project Fund
This space will become our city’s orchard — a place where families grow, faith flourishes, and the gospel takes root.
BEYOND US
Plant the Orchards
Rooted doesn’t stop with us. It multiplies beyond us — into new communities, new languages, and new nations.
We’re not building a brand; we’re building the Kingdom. Every seed planted here helps launch new churches and send people to places that need the hope of Jesus.
Ministry Impact
Here — Local Multiplication ($500,000)
- Launch SOJO Español in 2026 to reach Spanish-speaking families
- Develop 848 Union as a hub for youth, young adults, and church-planting residencies
- Prepare long-term plans for a Dream Center for family development and community transformation
Near — Regional Church Planting ($250,000)
- Launch SOJO Harrisburg in 2027
- Support 10 new churches across North Carolina through Carolina Movement
- Train future leaders through SOJO University and residencies
Far — Global Missions ($250,000)
- Send 6+ mission teams to Ethiopia, Guatemala, Scotland, and beyond
- Fund global partners who plant churches and serve unreached regions
- Empower young adults and families to go and give

Instead of dividing giving between “tithe” and “extra gifts,” everything flows into one unified fund that sustains ministry, makes space for growth, and expands our Kingdom impact.
This approach reflects our heart: we’re not running a side project — we’re moving forward as one church, with one mission, rooted in Christ.
